Well - in keeping with my last blog entry - 2009 is the year of taking RISKS. I do believe I took the first major one this week... I had received an A in Communications last term, a fantastic mark, one I shouldn't be disappointed with - but... I was devastated... Tears, frustration, then the math - calculating and recalculating trying to figure out where I lost those precious marks... The problem was - I couldn't find the lost marks. I got all my assignments and exams back and to the best of my figuring I got a 93% which is an A+, a 4.5... So after 4 painful days of losing sleep and being angry about it - I finally got the opportunity to talk to my instructor about it. After a few moments of him rolling his eyes (tired of being questioned about his marking system - I'll admit, this wasn't my first "offense"). I was feeling pretty hopeless until he starting say "oh boy... oh no... oh noooo...." That's right - he did indeed make an error in calculating my mark - and EVERY other class members' marks! Our transcripts are being adjusted as I type this. All of our marks will be increasing by .5 to 1.0 grade points in that course. So although I was terrified and shaking when I stepped out on this one - I actually ended up being the hero - everyone's marks got corrected AND I saved the instructor's bacon in a huge way because he had down-graded each and every one of us and that wouldn't have gone well for him if the college had caught it before he did... SO! Chalk one up for taking a Risk!!! =D
MEGA PRAISE REPORT!! We got a brand spanking new Marketing instructor this term. He's from Budapest, Hungary, and his resume is INCREDIBLY impressive! He's worked for some of the largest marketing firms in Europe and he's even represented HBO (ya - the big movie company out of the states!). We are eternally grateful as a class for our new arrival - we spent our first 2 hour class absolutely RIVETED. Class was over and we felt like we'd been there for 20 minutes - we didn't even take our usual mid-class washroom break. CRAZY!! The term looks like it's going to be a huge success and we're all very excited. He's also allowed us to PICK our OWN groups for the major group project - and I'd like to go on the record as saying I am part of the kickest-ass group ever! We're going to rock the project! Stay tuned for good things to come!
Last night was my Uncle Rick's 56th birthday party. I believe fun was had by all - even though it was a bittersweet celebration. It was great to see & visit with some of the family members I don't get to see very often. Elvis was on the ticket for the evening, and his lovely wife Priscilla made an appearance as well - I got lei-ed by Elvis at the party... lol... k, maybe it was funnier at the party... There are a few pictures on my facebook if you want to check them out. =) As always - your prayers for my Uncle Rick & Aunt Joan are much appreciated as they walk this unenviable road.
Another week is upon us and once again I've hit Sunday night sleep deprived and somewhat unprepared for the week ahead. So what else is new, right? Well, I'm conquering my resolutions one bite at a time - I guess getting 8 hours of sleep and nixing my tendancy to procrastinate will have to wait for another day... ;) Have a great week!

I love reading your blogs, Kyla. Keep them coming. I am getting to know you better about who you are and what you are all about, even though I only see you once a year! I do hope you get here some day to live your dream of seeing the Ocean!
Thanks, Auntie Suzanne. =) I definitely need to get out there and see the ocean!
